The 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) has been reformatted under the FAFSA Simplification Act to make it easier to submit information including using the Direct Data Exchange to pull in tax information. For the 2024-25 FAFSA, students (and parents, as appropriate) will report their tax year 2022 income information.
If you are selected for Verification, Marquette University is required to confirm your tax information. Students must use the Direct Data Exchange (DDX) on the FAFSA by providing consent to automatically transfer tax information to the FAFSA and to the University. If you are not eligible to use the DDX, you must submit a signed copy of your 2022 Federal IRS Tax Return Transcript (TRT).
If you are selected for Verification, Marquette University is also required to confirm your parent(s) tax information. Parent(s) can use the Direct Data Exchange (DDX) on the FAFSA by providing consent to automatically transfer tax information to the FAFSA and to the University. If your parent(s) are not eligible to use the DDX, they must submit a signed copy of their 2022 Federal IRS Tax Return Transcript (TRT).
NOTE: If your parent(s) did not file a 2022 federal tax return and you receive notice you have been selected for verification, you must obtain documentation from the IRS that your parent(s) did not file.
For more information about the Direct Data Exchange (including eligibility requirements) and for instructions for requesting a Federal IRS Tax Return Transcript, visit Guidelines for the Verification Process, 2024-25.
