Salt & Light Retreat

November 8-10, 2024

Open to both undergraduate and graduate students, the Salt and Light retreat explores the variety of ways we can express our worship, praise, and reverence of God through Word and Sacrament. Through student talks, reflection, and communal engagement with these devotions, we will explore this aspect of our faith. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore and reflect in small group discussions on faith sharing.

Registration will open in September.

What is Salt and Light?

Salt and Light is a retreat that explores the variety of ways we can worship and praise God through Word and Sacrament. Whatever your prior experience with Liturgy and Devotion, whether you are curious about, confused by, or deeply committed to these expressions of our faith, all are welcome! No pre-existing amount of holiness or knowledge is required, just a desire to know God better and to deepen your relationship with Him! So come, grow, learn, and enjoy friendship with Jesus and others in this retreat!

Cost

$20, which covers transportation, food and lodging. Financial assistance is readily available; see the Retreat FAQ page for more information.

Location

St. Vincent Pallotti Retreat Center - Elkhorn, WI

The Pallotti Center is a favorite Marquette retreat location, with a cozy and warm atmosphere. It includes comfortable bedrooms for 2-4 people (each with private bathroom), a gathering room full of armchairs and couches, lots of smaller areas for conversation and games, and a chapel. The grounds include trails that are perfect for walking and running, with the highlight being a path down to very pretty Sugar Creek.

  • Sunday, November 10, 11 a.m.: Retreat ends, depart for Marquette
  • Sunday, November 10, Noon: Back at Marquette

Student Testimonials

  • Because of this retreat, I am going to have daily prayer be a priority again and start doing the Divine mercy chaplet. I am going to be more intentional with praying for others too.
  • I have not been in Adoration for a very long time, it was great to have that time with God again and it was indeed my favorite part of the retreat.
  • I really liked the teaching mass. I had great conversations, a nice walk and played some piano too.
