Lenten Retreat in Daily Life

March 4 - April 11, 2025

The Lenten Retreat in Daily Life is a perfect opportunity to start, reboot, or dial in your prayer and relationship with God, all while talking with a spiritual guide and looking ahead to Easter. The retreat is simple, but the effects are lasting. Retreatants come together for an opening prayer service and commit to at least 15 minutes of daily prayer. Each retreatant is matched with a spiritual director who you’ll meet with weekly to talk about how both your prayer and your life are going. Come on the Lenten Retreat in Daily Life and see what God has planned for you.

What is the Lenten Retreat in Daily Life?

Retreatants come together for an opening prayer service and commit to at least 15 minutes of daily prayer. Each retreatant is matched with a spiritual director who you’ll meet with weekly to talk about how both your prayer and your life are going. That’s it. But it is amazing what can happen through regular daily commitment to spiritual growth. Retreatants report everything from a steady deepening of faith to a reclaiming of silence in their lives to truly transformative experiences.

This retreat is open to all students, both undergraduate and graduate, of the Marquette community. The Lenten Retreat in Daily Life is offered in two formats: online and in-person. You can choose whichever format better matches your circumstances.

Location

The Lenten Retreat will take place wherever retreatants find themselves. In addition to on-campus students, the Lenten Retreat in Daily Life is also open to distance learners, including those studying from home, pursuing online degrees, student teaching or interning outside Milwaukee, or studying abroad. This format is also available to those who live on or near campus but who prefer to do the retreat online for any reason.

For those choosing the online format, all spiritual direction will take place online. Participants can opt to receive either a hard copy or electronic copy of the Lenten Retreat in Daily Life booklet.

For those choosing the in-person format, spiritual direction will take place on campus, either in your spiritual director’s office or in a space in the Alumni Memorial Union. The opening and closing prayer services will take place in the Chapel of the Holy Family.
