MU Moja Retreat

February 7-8, 2025

MU Moja is an African and Black Diaspora retreat that offers a time and space to joyously reflect on one's journey of wholeness. Taking time to acknowledge the gift that is you and those around you will help to more deeply resonate with the God that sees and knows you. Your life is a journey worthy of celebrating! All faith backgrounds are welcome.

What is MU Moja?

This retreat is open to all students, both undergraduate and graduate, who identify as Black (African, African-American, Caribbean, Afro-Latinx, etc) who long to celebrate the intersections of Blackness, culture, community, and Christ, or just wanna see what MU Moja is all about...

During the retreat we will be discussing topics like:

  • Wholeness: Celebrating Faith & Resilience
  • Faith in the College Experience
  • Ways to Improve Black Unity on Campus/Milwaukee
  • Honest Personal Reflections
  • Black Culture and the Church

Come out for a weekend of fun, community, and open-hearted worship.

Cost

$10, which covers transportation, food and lodging. Financial assistance is readily available; see the Retreat FAQ page for more information. 

Location

St. Iakovos Retreat Center, Kansasville, WI

St. Iakovos Retreat Center is about 40 minutes south of Marquette. It includes a gathering room, chapel, full kitchen, and dorm style bedrooms, on a property that includes a pond and trails.

Schedule

  • Friday, February 7, 5:00 p.m.: Meet at Campus Ministry (AMU 236)
  • Saturday, February 8, 6:30 p.m.: Retreat ends, depart for Marquette
  • Sunday, February 8, 7:30 p.m.: Back at Marquette
