What is Ecojustice Retreat?

Our Jesuit mission and Catholic social teachings compel us to care for others and the environment through sustainability. Our pope reminds us about this, through the encyclical of Laudato Si'. Published in May 2015, Laudato Si' focuses on care for the natural environment and all people, as well as broader questions of the relationship between God, humans, and the Earth. The encyclical’s subtitle, “Care for Our Common Home,” reinforces these key themes.

The Ecojustice retreat hopes to teach students more about "Caring for Our Common Home" in the context of faith and justice. This retreat includes listening sessions, hikes, service, educational programs, and time for prayer and reflection. This retreat is open to all faith backgrounds and both undergraduate and graduate students.

Cost

$10, which covers lunch, transportation, supplies, and any admission fees. Financial assistance is readily available; see the Retreat FAQ page for more information.

The retreat will be at the Catholic Ecology Center. The Catholic Ecology Center seeks to deepen faith and foster a stewardship ethic through hands-on encounters with creation. The Catholic Ecology Center is a ministry of Laudato Si' Project.
