Ciere Boatright

Commissioner, Department of Planning and Development

City of Chicago

Ciere Boatright was appointed commissioner of the Chicago Department of Planning and Development (DPD) in November 2023 by Mayor Brandon Johnson. She leads DPD’s economic development, planning, and zoning functions, promoting inclusive, equitable growth across the city. Previously, as vice president at CRG, she oversaw major projects and launched philanthropic and mentoring programs. Prior to CRG, Ciere worked with Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives, where she managed over $450 million in new investments, including in the Pullman Park area. Recognized among Notable Women in Commercial Real Estate in Chicago and Crain's 40 under 40, Ciere holds degrees from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Hamilton College. Full bio.

Lafayette Crump

Commissionar, Department of City Development

City of Milwaukee

Lafayette Crump, JD, was appointed Commissioner of the Department of City Development (DCD) for the City of Milwaukee by Mayor Tom Barrett in 2020. He leads efforts to grow Milwaukee's population, create jobs, and develop equitable housing. Under his leadership, Milwaukee launched its first interagency housing program and attracted significant job investments. Previously, he was Deputy Chief of Staff for the 2020 Democratic National Convention and COO of Prism Technical Management & Marketing Services. Lafayette has received numerous recognitions, including the Milwaukee Business Journal 40 Under 40 and Titan 100 awards. A Milwaukee native, Lafayette holds undergraduate and law degrees from Duke University. Full bio.
