MilwaukeeWI53201United States of America(414) 288-7327vito.taphorn@marquette.eduVito Taphorn (BusAd ’98) serves as the Director of the Real Estate Asset Program (REAP) and Instructor of Practice, Finance in the College of Business Administration at Marquette University. Working closely with the Center for Real Estate, REAP is the first undergraduate student-led real estate investment program in the nation. In his role as Director of REAP, Vito advises students in evaluating investment options, presenting opportunities to a group of outside professionals (known as the “Investment Committee”) investing in real estate transactions, analyzing due diligence materials, building business plans for assets, and overseeing ongoing asset management reporting. Vito also helps cultivate and maintain relationships with industry partners that lead to a consistent pipeline of real estate investment opportunities for analysis by the REAP students.
Prior to joining Marquette as the Director of REAP, Vito spent 20+ years in various roles in commercial real estate finance, most recently as Managing Director at CIBC US, where he originated commercial real estate loan activity, managed customer relationships, and actively monitored quarterly credit quality. Previous roles include Director, Finance/Real Estate at Stark Investments and First Vice President of Commercial Real Estate Lending at LaSalle Bank, N.A.
Vito is a past president of the Marquette University Business Administration Alumni Association (MUBAAA) and former member of the Marquette University College of Business Administration Deans Advisory Council.
Vito received his B.S. in Business Administration from Marquette University, majoring in finance. Vito and his wife Makela have two children, Joe and Caroline, and reside in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin.
