Dr. Vrisiis Kofina, D.D.S., M.S. Assistant Professor and Grad Program Director in Periodontics
Dr. Kofina received her D.D.S. from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece and her M.S. and Certificate in Periodontics from The Ohio State University. Before specializing in Periodontology, she practiced general dentistry in her hometown Athens. Dr. Kofina is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and the recipient of the 2021 Bud and Linda Tarrsson Fellowship from the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation.

Dr. Arndt Guentsch D.M.D., M.H.B.A., Ph.D Chair of Department of Surgical Sciences
Dr. Guentsch graduated and got his training in Periodontics in Germany. He earns a Dr.med.dent. (D.M.D.) in 2001 and a Ph.D. in 2011 from the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena in Germany as well as a Master degree in Health Business Administration (M.H.B.A.) in 2013 from the Friedrich-Alexander-University Nuremberg. Dr. Guentsch is board certified from the German Society of Periodontology (2013). His passion is to combine clinic and research. Dr. Guentsch authored approx. 100 publications, more than 40 of them were published in peer-reviewed journals. From 2001 until 2014 he was a faculty member at the University Hospital in Jena, Germany and since 2015 he joined the Department of Surgical Sciences at the Marquette University School of Dentistry as Associate Professor. He is currently Chair of the Department of Diagnostic and Surgical Sciences.

Dr. Moe Kassab, D.D.S., M.S. Clinical Associate Professor
Dr. Kassab received his D.D.S from Damascus University, Syria in 2000, He then received his Certificate in Periodontology and M.S. in Oral Biology from State University of New York at Buffalo. He currently a Clinical Associate Professor and has previous experience at Harvard University, School of Dental Medicine and clinical research at the Forsyth Institute. Dr. Kassab's research focuses on the utilization of connective tissue grafts in treating gingival recession. Also he is involved in clinical research to investigate the use of dental implants in the esthetic zone

Dr. Al Kwon, D.D.S., M.S. Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Kwon is originally from South Korea. He attended Marquette University as a pre-dental scholar, and received his D.D.S from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 2015. He then went to University of Louisville and completed his residency program with a Certificate in Periodontics and implants. He is very excited and thrilled to come back to his alma mater as a faculty. Dr. Kwon is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.

Dr. Marina Protopopova, D.D.S, M.S.D. Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Protopopova was born and raised in Russia. She graduated from Medical college in 1997 and Dental school in 2002 from Russia. She earned her D.D.S from Colorado in 2013. She then completed her Periodontics residency in Colorado in 2017. She has earned a certificate of specialization in Periodontics and M.S.D.
She has previously worked as a paramedic and a general dentist. She has also worked as a Periodontist in a group practice full-time and part-time Adjunct Assistant Professor at Marquette School of Dentistry.
She loves working in clinical settings with students and patients, sharing all her knowledge and practical experience with them.

Dr. Swati Rawal, B.D.S, M.D.S, M.S. Clinical Associate Professor
Dr. Rawal trained in Periodontology in India and The Ohio State University Columbus, Ohio. She has practiced and taught in various parts of the world including India, Trinidad and Tobago, US, and Malaysia.
