Project Planning and Development Process

The Project Planning and Development team is here to guide applicants through the Pre Award process. Pre Award is the beginning of the process that includes the PI defining the project, identifying potential funding sources, drafting the proposal, processing it through Kuali for review and approval, and then submission.

Project Idea  --->  Finding Funding  --->  Developing a Proposal  ---> Submitting a Proposal

Project Idea

Formulating a project often relies on multiple sources. Connecting with colleagues both internally and externally can provide valuable insight and guidance. Even when you are at this preliminary stage, it is important to connect with ORSP Project Planning and Development staff. To ensure a successful application, contact should be made well in advance of writing your proposal. The engagement of ORSP staff at the onset is an important yet often unrealized investment of new researchers in their grant-seeking efforts.

Finding Funding

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs offers faculty and staff a wide range of information on funding sources for research and other projects that support Marquette's mission. Marquette personnel seeking funding opportunities can use the resources below to identify potential funding support.

Developing a Proposal

The Project Planning and Development team in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) can assist you with the various components of developing your proposal. If you haven't already contacted Project Planning and Development to discuss your project idea please do so now.

Submitting a Proposal

All external grant proposals must be registered in Kuali, Marquette's grants management system. If you haven't already done so, contact Project Planning and Development (PPD) to talk about your proposal submission plans.  A member of PPD will work with Grants Administration (GA) and to create your Project Development Team.
