Undergraduate Studies
A Marquette teacher candidate or educational studies graduate is:
- An advocate and practitioner of equity and justice in schools and communities
- A designer and facilitator of ambitious curriculum and pedagogy informed by theory, context, and students’ thinking and experiences
- An imaginative, critical thinker who reflects on ways to improve teaching and learning

What makes our educator preparation program unique?
- Students double major in education and a content area of their choice.
- From the first semester in our program, students participate in service learning, extensive fieldwork and student teaching or community engaged internships.
- Students cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with schools, families and community organizations in the greater Milwaukee area.
The College of Education offers three undergraduate majors:
- Elementary Education (grades K-9)
- Secondary Education (grades 4-12)
- Educational Studies
All licensure programs are overseen by Wisconsin's Department of Public Instruction. Teacher education programs lead to teacher certification. Educational Studies is designed for students who are interested in education but not the traditional classroom teaching experience.
