As the first nurse epidemiologist at Yale New Haven Hospital, Betsy was a trailblazer in the field of hospital epidemiology and for women in health care.

Service Award
Nancy Happel Alsace, Nurs ’79
Toronto, Ontario

Nancy took the caring, compassionate values and skills embodied in a Marquette nursing education on a worldwide tour, serving a diverse, international mix of patients before returning to the United States and running a mobile health care van to help the underserved.

Instead of receiving gifts for their first anniversary in 2014, Annie and Dave engaged their guests in giving to the Marquette College of Nursing’s work in community health. This inspired the annual NightinGala, an event Annie and Dave created with the college to support its community care programs.
