Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award
Dr. Patricia Holt Sackett, Arts ’75, and Dr. Paul R. Sackett, Arts ’75
Minneapolis, Minn.
While Pat and Paul might view themselves as “plain folks not worth a lot of notice,” their many personal and professional accomplishments counter that modest description. Both have earned doctorates and achieved notable career success.
Professional Achievement Award
The Honorable Christopher R. Foley, Arts ’75, Law ’78
Wauwatosa, Wis.
After more than 30 years as a judge for the Milwaukee County Circuit Court, the Honorable Christopher Foley has lost count of the number of adoptions over which he presided, but he has never lost hope in foster children.
A Person for Others Award
Patricia A. Brannan, Arts ’75
Silver Spring, Md.
A first-generation college student, Pat Brannan had never considered law school. But thanks to encouragement from Marquette's Jesuits, she went on to Harvard Law School and a career defined by advancing legal ethics and advocating for others.
Young Alumnus of the Year Award
Robert E. Croston, Jr., Arts ’05 (Posthumously)
Chicago, Ill.
For most of college, Rob thought he wanted a career as a political science professor. But as he progressed through Marquette University, he said, “I realized I didn’t want to make sense of public life, I wanted to be active in public life.”
