Five
Questions With...
John Shusterich, Arts '11
(Adam Bissonnette, Arts '15, mentee)
1. What suggestions do you have for mentees?
Don’t be afraid to ask your mentors the tough questions, and allow us to challenge you on your viewpoints and perspectives.
2. Something you wish you would’ve done at Marquette differently to help prepare for your career?
Plug in to the Milwaukee business community. Everyone here has a unique story to tell and beneficial experiences from which you can learn.
3. If you’ve had a mentor, what’s one piece of advice that has stuck with you?
Never stop challenging yourself; life is about the pursuit, not the capture.
4. What qualities do you look for and appreciate in the people you work with or hire?
Integrity and character above all else. You can also tell when someone is passionate about what they do, because their energy and determination are contagious.
5. What’s your favorite Marquette memory?
Too many. This may be an underappreciated one – but I always thought Marquette made returning to campus in the fall fun. Mass of the Holy Spirit and the Welcome Back Picnic on the Quad was a tradition I always looked forward to.
