Residence Life Staff are always on call in this event; please call MUPD’s non-emergency line for assistance).

Early Move-In
If you wish to request an early move-in, please email our office with your name, MUID, apartment number, and requested early move-in date.
If your future apartment becomes available for move in earlier than the lease start date, our office will email to let you know that an early move In possibility exists. If you have already been informed of this possibility, you may move in on the date that has been provided to you.
Our office continually reviews the scheduling of all new apartment moves, leases, and turnover. Please note that we may not have much advanced notice of an early-move in possibility, and are unable to prioritize specific apartments. If an early move in is granted and occurs, your bursar account will be adjusted, pro rata, for any occupancy prior to the lease start date.
Early move-ins are only possible if an apartment is vacant and our maintenance teams have sufficient time to prepare an apartment for move-in. Our established leasing dates are designed to accommodate the the majority of students; regardless, we realize that any individuals' academic, employment, or housing plans may not always perfectly align with this schedule. The residence hall to apartment / spring-summer transition can be particularly challenging; temporary housing options are available for this reason.
What to Bring
Moving carts and bins may be available at building front desks. As supplies may be limited, we encourage residents to bring their own moving equipment as possible.
In conjunction with building amenities, apartment residents should supply their own:
Shower curtain / rings
Garbage / recycling bins and bags
Toilet paper and other toiletries
Kitchen equipment: dishware, flatware, cooking supplies, etc.
Bedding / Linens: Twin XL mattresses are provided in furnished housing; Full-sized beds are provided at The Marq
Connectivity: extensions cords, ethernet cables, power strips, coaxial cables, etc.
Any appliances with open heating elements / flames (toasters, grills, camping stoves, etc.)
Subwoofers, receivers, or any excessively loud musical instruments / sound devices
Torchier-style lamps
Any other items prohibited by your lease, Marquette Police Department, Milwaukee Fire Department, and / or Milwaukee Department of Neighborhood Services
This form is distributed via email to all residents several weeks prior to the end of your lease. Every individual resident must complete their own form. This form is also used to request move-out extensions in the University Apartments.
There are 3 options for the end of a lease:
Continuing in the apartment - meaning that you have a lease or storage agreement in the exact same apartment immediately following the expiration of the current lease
For example: Staying from spring, through summer, and into next fall
Transferring to a different apartment - meaning that you are moving to a different University-owned apartment immediately following the expiration of the current lease
For example: Moving from Campus Town East to McCabe for the summer
Moving Out - this includes anyone who is not renting immediately after the expiration of the lease (even if you are returning to the apartment for the next academic year).
Individuals wishing to request a short-term extension may select "Moving Out," and then indicate the date through which they wish to extend their lease - whether it is a few days or the entire summer. Extensions are not guaranteed and may be affected by a number of factors. An approved extension may incur additional rental costs.
When your lease ends, you must leave your apartment in move-in condition. It must be clean and all personal property must be removed from the premises. A detailed list of cleaning responsibilities will be sent prior to move-out.
Ensure you have settled your account with MU Central
Please remember that if you paid a housing deposit and lived in the University Apartments, this payment was credited toward your rental charges and thus is not refunded.
Key Return
Keys for your apartment must be returned to the following locations, corresponding to your apartment building of residence. Front desks are typically open 7am to midnight. (Please note that we make every attempt to have desks fully staffed during this time, but closures may occur due to student staffing availability. Residence Life Staff are always on call in this event; please call MUPD’s non-emergency line for assistance).

Cleanliness / apartment not left in move-in condition
Egregious damages or other facilities-related issues
Personal property left in or near an apartment (including garbage, furniture, etc.)
Failure to vacate by lease-end date
Continued use of the premises or unapproved access to apartment building
In the event of issues following your tenancy, details concerning these matters will be emailed to your Marquette email account and updated on your MU Central Bursar account.
