Library Communications Assistant

Description

Reporting to the Coordinator of Marketing and Outreach in the Dean’s Office of Raynor Memorial Libraries, the communication assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to engaging, effective communications and outreach for the library and its various services and units.

The communication assistant will work with the marketing/outreach coordinator to plan and create content for the library’s digital media and will support the coordinator in the execution of library events and exhibits. The job also includes occasional office assistance and special projects. The position will offer valuable real-life experience in many aspects of marketing/communications work in a fun and supportive environment.

The position runs through the spring semester, with a possibility for renewal in 2023/2024 school year.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Social media: Brainstorm, create, and post content (written and visual) for the library’s social media; monitor analytics, library and campus happenings, and broader trends for ideas.
• Digital signage: Create and schedule postings for the library’s digital displays.
• Event and exhibit support: Create buttons, nametags, PPTs, table signage, and other materials for events and exhibits; help set up/remove basic library exhibits.
• Other projects and office duties as assigned

Qualifications

The position requires the ability to write persuasively and concisely, with visual communication, social media savvy (bonus points for job-related experience), a good nose for news, and interest in marketing, public relations, communications, or journalism. Experience with photography, video, and page layout/graphic design software is helpful but not necessary. The position requires 10 - 12 hours per week during the coordinator's regular office hours (Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm).
