Honors Civic Dialogue Pedagogy Workshop

Honors Research Fair to Celebrate Research Award Winners
Congratulations to the Honors Research Fellowship Awards Winners for Summer 2024! Student awardees received up to $3500 for research or creative projects carried out June-August 2024. Awardees will present their research findings at the Honors Undergraduate Research Fair

A collaboration with the Art Club. We have racks and mannequins of clothes waiting for your imagination! Bring your creativity and we’ll provide clothes patches, rhinestones, glitter, fabric scissors, embroidery floss, needles, thread, and more. Gently used clothes provided to rip, cut, or revamp! Join us – snacks provided!

Milwaukee’s Near West Side Bus Tour
Saturday, October 12th, Honors took a trip to various community locations providing students with the opportunity to engage with Near West Side partners. Some highlights of the trip included:

Sunday Studies
Hosted in the Honors Suite (Sensenbrenner 002)  Sundays (Sept. 29, Oct. 6, and Oct. 13.) Group study during designated times (10am 12pm Biology; 12pm-2pm Chemistry; 2pm-4pm Physics; 4pm-6pm Math & Computer Science; 6pm-8pm Accounting; 8pm-10pm General Study). Co-work was available for particular classes or general classes .

The Honors Alumni Leadership Council convened for a Civic Dialogues-style event on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 7pm to 8 pm in the Eisenberg (“Harry Potter”) Room of Sensenbrenner, facilitated by Honors students in Civic Dialogues. 8-9 members of the Alumni Council visited campus that evening, plus about 30 Honors students and a handful of faculty. Following the dialogue, from 8pm to 8:30pm, there was a dessert reception which was a great chance to meet alumni.

Educational Talks by accomplished scholar and author, Douglas E. Christie, Professor Emeritus of Theological Studies at Loyola Marymount University, were held at Marquette on behalf of the Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholars Program. On Oct. 1 at 4pm, Christie delivered a lecture titled "Thinking Like a Mountain: Contemplative Ecology in the Anthropocene" in Raynor Library, followed by a reception. On Oct. 2 at 2pm, he lead a discussion on "Contemplative Practice in an Age of Distraction" in Marquette Hall 105, with light refreshments provided.
