Shop local during this holiday season! Marquette’s Employee Resource Groups are sponsoring a #MUsupportslocal selfie challenge. It’s easy: just buy from a local business, take a selfie with the food, product, or gift card, and post to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #MUsupportslocal.  

Don’t know where to start? You may consider: 

• staying within walking distance of campus with one of these Marquette University partner businesses 
• supporting a Near West Side business 
• perusing this list of student and staff recommendations for local minority-owned businesses 
• or checking out this more complete listing of Milwaukee’s Black-owned businesses. 

For every time you tag yourself supporting a local business, your name will be entered into a giveaway* for a Marquette swag prize, to be drawn on December 18^th, 2020. (Delivery cannot be guaranteed by Christmas.)  

Parents, students, alumni, and friends who are not on campus – you can participate, too! Many local businesses provide the opportunity to purchase gift cards from their websites. These make great stocking stuffers and will help support many of our local businesses during this difficult season.

Rules:

Eligibility: *Giveaway is open to anyone in the continental United States, 18 years of age or older, and is void where prohibited by law.  

Entries:  Entries may be earned by posting a selfie on Instagram or Twitter with a product or service purchased from a Milwaukee business with the hashtag #MUsupportslocal, OR by mailing your name and email address to Jacki Black at Zilber Hall 454, PO Box 1881, Milwaukee, WI 53201. Mail-in entries must be received no later than December 17, 2020.

Prizes and Notification: Marquette will select one (1) winner on December 18, 2020, and the eligible winner will receive Marquette swag. Winners will be notified via social media or e-mail and winnings will be mailed to an address provided by the winner by the end of the following week. 

Drawing: The winner will be determined via random drawing from all eligible entries. Odds on winning will be determined by the number of entries. No cash value, not transferable. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.

Giveaway Entry Period: The weekly giveaway period begins on November 23, 2020 at 12:00 a.m. CST and runs through December 17, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. CST.

Winner Releases: Winners are responsible for any/all tax consequences. By entering this giveaway, entrants agree that Marquette can publicizing winner names and photographs for promotional purposes (signed consent form may be required).

Termination of Giveaway: Marquette reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate this giveaway at any time.
