Come meet with an academic coach. Our academic coaches are full-time professionals who meet with students one-on-one or in small groups. Coaches work in partnership with students to help them improve their academic performance. The academic coach identifies your strengths and weaknesses and individualizes appropriate activities. The academic coach can help you become organized, improve and develop skills, and learn how to succeed in college. Academic coaches assist students in meeting their goals. To do this, coaches provide students with questions, observations, feedback, encouragement, support and accountability.
If you find yourself spending a lot of time studying and not getting the grades you expect in return, let us work with you to figure out a better way. We’ve helped thousands of Marquette students find what works for them in one-on-one and group study skills workshops. We offer individual assistance with college learning strategies.
Students can engage with academic coaching at any point during their academic career at Marquette. Academic coaching can be defined as the one-on-one process of helping a student examine academic concerns and perceived barriers to success. Coaches provide students with semester-long academic support in areas such as time management, procrastination, test preparation, and note-taking and reading strategies. They work individually with students, assess their strengths and needs, and devise a personalized plan of action.
The academic coach works to empower the student toward positive behavior change. Students typically meet with an academic coach for three to four appointments per semester to test new techniques provided by the coach and to report back on the success of such techniques. The goal of coaching is to promote an individual’s self-efficacy and confidence during their time at Marquette. Coaching is provided year-round, including in the summer term, for NO cost.
