Speech Pathology & Audiology faculty members stand with and support the members of the Black community and are committed to ending systemic racism in all its forms. We know that Black Lives Matter. We recognize that racism and oppression are actively impacting the lives of Black people and people of color through bigotry and service provision, leading to incarceration and generational trauma. We recognize that disparities are caused by overt racism as well as acts guided by the perpetuation of implicit bias. We understand that where Black people have been oppressed, white people have benefited. We acknowledge and embrace the ongoing, long-term commitment necessary to work towards ending systemic racism. We stand for unity, diversity and inclusion and pledge to bring those principles to the forefront of our work.
