Roomers: Spring 2025 Arrival Survival Guide
Welcome to Marquette! The Residence Life staff and the entire Marquette University community are looking forward to your arrival on campus for the 2024-2025 academic year!
When can you move into the halls?Residence hall move-in will occur on Sunday, January 12 for all students.
What furniture is in your room?A twin XL bed, dresser, desk and desk chair, mirror, study lamp, curtains and mattress cover for each resident. All beds are extra long twin (36”x80”). Your hall also has a laundry facility. Laundry machines accept coins and/or Marquette CASH. Laundry costs $1.50 per load to wash and $1.50 to dry. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, this price changes to $1.25. Additionally, we ask that you do not use laundry pods in the washers, as these can clog the machines.
What should you bring with you?For your beds, we recommend that you bring extra long twin sheets, blankets, bed spread, pillow and pillow case.
Please do not bring these items:
Can you have guests in your room?Residents may host up to three visitors at a time during the following hours:
24-hour-hour lobby spaces are available for students and their visitors in each residence hall. For complete details of the visitation policy, including overnight guests, please review the polices and procedures on our website.
MicroFridge Rental InformationThe MicroFridge is a one-of-a-kind unit that includes a full refrigerator, freezer and microwave all-in-one! This is a convenient alternative to bringing a refrigerator and microwave from home and is a great option for students attending Marquette from far away or out-of-state. It is one less large item to pack, making move-in day MUCH easier and less stressful! Place your order before August to guarantee that your MicroFridge will be dropped off in your room by move-in. Bedloft.com is endorsed and approved by Marquette University. Place your MicroFridge order. How do you protect belongings?Marquette University is not responsible for theft, damage or loss of valuables, money or property belonging to students. We strongly recommend that you insure your personal property while at Marquette, either through your family’s home owners insurance policy or by purchasing separate property/renter’s insurance. We also encourage you to inscribe your name on valuables before your arrival.
Do you need medical insurance?Full-time undergraduates pay a per-term health fee that entitles them to benefits of Marquette University Medical Clinic. For additional information on health services, visit the Medical Clinic website. What do you need in case of an emergency? The hospital in the area requires that students have a medical insurance card or a copy of it to present upon admittance. Remember to get one from your parent/guardian and bring it with you in the fall.
Do you need to bring a computer?Every student living in a Marquette university residence hall is provided a high speed internet connection to the campus network. In addition, all the residence halls have wireless connectivity. Students are not required to have their own computer as Marquette offers many computers for student use which are available in the residence halls and other locations across campus. To view a list of labs, including available software and hours of operation, please visit the IT Services website. Students are encouraged to bring a computer to campus and should contact the IT Services TechSquad at (414) 288-7799 with any questions regarding minimum recommendations.
Can I ship belongings to campus? We are asking students to ship any items (including textbooks) to their permanent address and bring those items with them to campus on move-in day. We have limited mailroom space and hours during the early weeks of the semester to accommodate a large influx of packages shipped directly to residence halls. Residence Halls will not be able to accept packages until move-in day (January 12). We ask that you do not ship any items to the halls before this date, as any items received before this date are rerouted to a central location and may be delayed in getting delivered to the residence halls.
Meal plan informationAll students are automatically assigned the university's Anytime Dining meal plan. For information on how to make the most of your meal plan, visit us online or contact our office.
