The Marquette University Department of Physical Therapy's scholarship record continues to thrive with faculty receiving nearly $11 million in external funding over the last three years and authoring over 160 peer-reviewed publications.

Marquette Challenge Approaches $5 Million Raised for Research

In its 35th year, the nationally-renowned Marquette Challenge once again brought together physical therapy schools from around the country to raise money for the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research. To date, the Marquette Challenge has raised over $4.8 million for the Foundation to help fund researchers as they investigate the efficacy of physical therapy practices and pioneer breakthrough treatments. Thank you to all of the schools who participated in the Challenge and those who donated! We welcome all schools to join in the Marquette Challenge next year!

Dr. Capin among few to earn Early Independence Award from NIH

As part of his near $2 million NIH grant, Assistant Professor Dr. Jacob Capin is researching how injuries in former high school or college athletes can impact their quality of life.

NIH awards Dr. Hyngstrom $3M grant to study fatigue in stroke survivors

In a partnership with the Medical College of Wisconsin, Department of Physical Therapy Chair Dr. Allison Hyngstrom's R01 focuses on an understudied consequence of strokes and how fatigue can influence a victim's progress in muscle rehabilitation.

Dr. Sandra Hunter among the top 2% of cited researchers in the world.

Dr. Hunter, professor in the Exercise Science Program, in the Department of Physical Therapy, is one of 13 current Marquette faculty members that are listed among the top 2% of cited scientists in the world, according to research at Stanford University. Data was collected on Oct. 1, 2023, and is current through the end of citation year 2022.
