PHILOSOPHY ACCELERATED DEGREE PROGRAM
The Accelerated Degree Program (ADP) in Philosophy is designed to allow students to earn a BA degree and an MA degree in Philosophy in five years rather than the six years normally required to earn both degrees. Undergraduates participating in this program are granted early admission to the Graduate School and are allowed to take up to 12 credit hours of graduate-level courses during their senior year; these graduate courses can also count towards senior year major requirements.
Many students use an ADP to “bridge” between general liberal arts study and a more focused career path. Students who wish to do this should plan to complete an MA project based on their professional goals.
The Department welcomes current Marquette undergraduates to apply for this program in the junior year. A Philosophy major is not required, but applicants must have taken 6 PHIL courses beyond PHIL 1001 and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The GRE is not required.
