‘Get to Know’ state school superintendent candidate Brittany Kinser, March 20

March 18, 2025

Brittany KinserMILWAUKEE — Brittany Kinser, a candidate for superintendent of public instruction in Wisconsin, will be the special guest for the next installment of the Marquette University Law School Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education’s “Get to Know” program series on Thursday, March 20, at 12:15 p.m. at Eckstein Hall, 1215 W. Michigan St.

Alan Borsuk, senior fellow in the Lubar Center, will host this “Get to Know” program. Registration is available online for this free public event. Media wishing to attend should contact Kevin Conway at kevin.m.conway@marquette.edu.

Kinser taught special education in the Chicago Public Schools, served as principal of a public charter school in Milwaukee, and was the CEO of the education nonprofit City Forward Collective. She co-founded 95 Wisconsin, seeking to increase reading proficiency for 95 percent of Wisconsin's children. In this conversation, she will share her background, why she has entered this race, and what she plans to achieve in her future work.

Ahead of the primary election on Feb. 18, the Lubar Center extended invitations for a general-election debate event to all candidates for superintendent of public instruction. While all candidates agreed in concept, the Lubar Center was subsequently unable to confirm a program time with the Jill Underly campaign. Given the circumstances, the Lubar Center instead offered  “Get to Know” programs to both candidates, and the Kinzer campaign accepted.

Through public programming such as the Marquette Law School Poll, “On the Issues” conversations with newsmakers, public lectures by leading scholars, conferences on issues of public significance, and the work of its Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education, Marquette Law School seeks to advance civil discourse about law and public policy matters.
