Get to Know the director of the Milwaukee Public Library, April 3
March 28, 2024
MILWAUKEE — Joan Johnson, director of the Milwaukee Public Library, will be the special guest for the next installment of the “Get to Know” program series of Marquette University Law School’s Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education, on Wednesday, April 3, at 12:15 p.m. at Eckstein Hall, 1215 W. Michigan St.
Derek Mosley, director of the Lubar Center, hosts the “Get to Know” series, which is styled as “more late-night talk show than ‘Meet the Press.’” Registration is available online for this free public event. Media wishing to attend should contact Kevin Conway at kevin.m.conway@marquette.edu.
Johnson, who has been with the Milwaukee Public Library since 2006, became its director in 2020. Over the years, the services of libraries have grown as social safety nets have been stretched. Not only are libraries a place for books and research, but they are also a critical component of vibrant communities. As we celebrate Library Week, learn more about Johnson, what brought her back to Milwaukee, and what exciting things are happening at the Milwaukee Public Library.
Through public programming such as the Marquette Law School Poll, “On the Issues” conversations with newsmakers, public lectures by leading scholars, conferences on issues of public significance, and the work of its Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education, Marquette Law School seeks to advance civil discourse about law and public policy matters.
