Marquette University preparing resources for 2024 RNC media
Dec. 22, 2023
MILWAUKEE — Marquette University, through the Office of University Relations, is preparing resources for media surrounding the 2024 Republican National Convention to take place July 15-18, 2024, in Milwaukee.
Members of the OUR communication team will be available to assist media throughout the duration of the convention. Advance service and assistance requests are available by contacting Kevin Conway, associate director of university communication, at kevin.m.conway@marquette.edu. As NOTE: The university is at capacity in its residence halls and no longer has availability to accommodate additional residents on campus.
Faculty experts
Marquette maintains a robust list of faculty members available for analysis on a wide range of topics in the lead up to and during the convention. A list of RNC-specific experts is already live in the Marquette News Center. Faculty listed in this directory are open to direct contact from media, unless noted, and have confirmed their availability during the convention. If you do not see your desired topic, please contact Conway and inquiries can be made with unlisted faculty about potential availability before the convention.
Some faculty have expressed an openness to exclusive media opportunities with news outlets. Contact Conway with inquiries if your organization is looking for exclusivity with an expert on a topic.
Journalism safety panels
Marquette, through the Diederich College of Communication, is working with the James W. Foley Legacy Foundation to hold two journalism safety panels ahead of the convention. These panels would be virtual or hybrid and are tentatively planned for mid-June. Panel content is intended to be event- and location-specific, but the college also encourages attendees to think about their surroundings and prepare in advance. If you are or your organization is interested in more information on a journalism safety panel as planning comes together, please fill out this form.
Filming locations
The Marquette campus is located just over one mile from the Fiserv Forum and is expected to be located just outside the secure perimeter surrounding the convention. Outdoor campus spaces are open for on-camera standups and interviews. To coordinate space or to inquire about specific scenes or locations, please contact Conway.
