Memorial Day history
Memorial Day traces its origins back to the Civil War and Decoration Day. Dr. James Marten, professor of history, can offer a historical perspective on the holiday and its origins, as well as the history of soldiers’ homes and other veterans’ issues. He can be reached at james.marten@marquette.edu.
