Catholic Volunteer NetworkMILWAUKEE —Marquette University has been named a top school for service by the Catholic Volunteer Network. The designation recognizes Marquette’s Campus Ministry and the Service Learning Program for consistent excellence in collaborating with the university’s network and championing post-grad service among students.

Catholic Volunteer Network recognized 29 schools as it celebrates its volunteers who have said “yes” to faith-based service — choosing to live and serve in communities across the United States and the world through full-time volunteer programs.

“We are extremely honored to be recognized by the Catholic Volunteer Network for our demonstrated commitment to post-grad service,” said Kim Jensen Bohat, director of the Service Learning Program. “The Marquette community strives to ‘Be the Difference’ and that includes a strong culture of service for and with others. It’s a value that does not end at graduation.”

Campus Ministry provides and promotes the Ignatian practices of experience, reflection, discernment and action, so faculty, staff and students may see their work as living the four pillars of the university’s mission. This includes a commitment to service that has a global impact and leadership that both promotes inclusion and respects the human dignity of each.

Following in the Jesuit tradition of faithful service, the Service Learning Program at Marquette facilitates student academic learning through meaningful service experiences, which encourage and enable faculty and students to positively impact the community. The program seeks to bring campus and community together in partnership to share resources, meet real community needs and help to educate women and men to become the change agents of tomorrow.

The Catholic Volunteer Network promotes faith-based volunteer opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and skills. CVN strives to support members through volunteer recruitment, training and resources, networking opportunities and advocacy. The foundation is built on the gospel and is rooted in the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
