Ceremony marks opening of $24 million, 47,000-square-foot facility

MILWAUKEE — Marquette University on Monday, April 29, will hold a dedication ceremony for its new Athletic and Human Performance Research Center. The event will be held at 3 p.m. in Parking Lot G (723 N. 12th St.), immediately south of the facility.

The event will include remarks by Marquette President Michael R. Lovell; Dr. Jeanne Hossenlopp, vice president for research and innovation; Bill Scholl, vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics; and a student athlete. Individuals from the project’s construction, design and engineering firms will also be in attendance.

Brief interviews and photo opportunities will be available immediately following the ceremony.

About the AHPRC
Opening spring 2019, the first phase of the Athletic and Human Performance Research Center sets off a new era of research for Marquette University. The second facility in the university’s $600 million Campus Master Plan to open, the building will provide dedicated space where Marquette faculty and partners from the health care industry can collaborate on cutting-edge research in elite athletic performance, human performance, rehabilitation, fitness data analytics and other related disciplines.

Located across the street from the Al McGuire Center, home to Marquette Athletics, the AHPRC will house a world-class strength and conditioning area, as well as much-needed locker rooms and support space for the lacrosse programs and golf team.
