MILWAUKEE — The Marquette University Law School will co-sponsor a two-day Urban Wills Caravan event to offer estate planning services to the Native-American population on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11-12, at the Southeastern Oneida Tribal Service Office, 5233 W. Morgan Ave.
The event, a collaboration of Wisconsin Judicare and Marquette law students led by the school’s Office of Public Service, will feature attorneys and law students assisting any tribal member in the Milwaukee area who wants to draft a will, powers of attorney, or other basic estate planning services for free.
Sessions will be available by appointment or walk-in from 9 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. Appointments are available by contacting Wisconsin Judicare at (715) 842-1681.
Marquette Law School’s estate planning clinic, an initiative of the school’s Office of Public Service, offers opportunities throughout Milwaukee at the Veterans Affairs Office, House of Peace, and a mobile clinic once a month. Appointments are required and can be requested by calling (414) 288-5378. Couples must schedule two appointment slots.
Marquette Law School created the Office of Public Service in 2005 to help build upon the legacy of the late Dean Howard B. Eisenberg. The office supports numerous pro bono opportunities for law students and area lawyers. including the Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinics, the Milwaukee Justice Center, and the Mobile Legal Clinic. Students, faculty, alumni, and others participate in a range of activities centered on access to justice and community engagement.
