Welcome to the Molecular and Cellular Core in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Marquette University. The core is a shared facility available to investigators within the Department of Biomedical Sciences to conduct cellular and molecular experiments that include but are not limited to, RT-PCR, Q-PCR, electrophoresis, DNA analysis, and Western bolt analysis. The facility houses a dedicated cell culture area that is fully equipped for performing in vitro research.
The core is also a source for consultation in the areas of assay optimization and aid in data acquisition. It provides a molecular training center for undergraduate and graduate students in the department. On average, there are three to four graduate students working and consulting with the core at time. It is expected to be a center of scientific and academic resources for our scientists, promoting intellectual exchange, and facilitating research collaboration in the department.
The core is under the directorship of Dr. Khadijah Makky; Dr. Makky received her Ph.D. in biochemistry and completed four years of postdoctoral training at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
