Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering
Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the Opus College of Engineering at Marquette University! My name is Dr. John Borg, and I have had the pleasure of serving as chair of the department since 2017.
Mechanical engineering has a long tradition at Marquette, beginning in 1908 with the undergraduate program. Now, mechanical engineering is one of the most popular majors at Marquette, and we have added master's and doctoral degrees to our offerings, too.
Our dedicated mechanical engineering faculty provide students with a broad-based mechanical engineering education in the traditional areas of mechanical systems, thermo-fluid systems and manufacturing systems. At the same time, they are preparing students to think broadly about the application of engineering and how their work can positively impact our communities.
Whether it's inside our labs and classrooms, or on service trips and industry co-op rotations, our students are immersed in real-life engineering experiences that will help shape their career aspirations. I invite you to learn more about our department's students and faculty as you browse our webpages.
If you have any questions about the Department of Mechanical Engineering, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to sharing the many great reasons to choose mechanical engineering at Marquette!
Regards,
Dr. John Borg, P.E.
