What is your favorite thing about working
for Marquette?
I really enjoy meeting with and learning the stories of our interesting, generous and successful alumni. Many of the individuals whom I meet give credit to Marquette University and the education that they received here for the good things that have transpired in their personal and professional lives.
What do you feel Marquette contributes most to Milwaukee?
I think Marquette’s outreach role in the Milwaukee community is of great value. Our satellite dental clinics, for example, provide care for an underserved population, not only in Milwaukee but also across the state. I recently had the chance to hear faculty members of our School of Education speak about our community initiatives that include counseling programs in a homeless shelter for men, many of whom have addictions; a clinic that helps young children — most under the age of 5 — with behavioral problems; and a literacy program that helps advance the reading levels of many area grade school students. The passion that these students and faculty members have is amazing, and the programs make an obvious difference in our city.
