WINGS Travel Scholarship

Sponsored by the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion, the Wings Scholarship provides opportunities for low-income students to engage in
a credit-bearing study abroad experience. Eight students will receive an airfare stipend of up to $1250 each to participate in these highly impactful study abroad programs.Scholarship applications for summer 2020, fall 2020 or academic year 2020-2021 are

A Jesuit Approach to Peace and Justice

Learn from human rights defender, Owen Chourappa, S.J. as he shares about the role
of peacemaking in his work protecting migrants and the marginalized in India. Join
us to discuss how race and religion play a role in India's recent Citizenship Amendment
and learn about how LCHR is protecting civilians during times of political unrest

True to its mission, the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at Marquette University
eased that door open for two Wisconsin tribal members. In celebration of its 50th
year at Marquette University, Mr. Robin Carufel (who was part of the 1975 EOP cohort)
and Sir Lawrence Tender (who is a current EOP student and McNair Scholar) will share
their respective inspirational journeys to and through college.

Mission Week, The Marquette Forum, Athletics and EOP are proud to host EOP alumni
George Thompson, Sp '69, Maureen Hoyler, Arts '70, Law '79; the Hon. M. Joseph Donald, Arts

moderator Vivian King. They will share their stories — some from the perspective of
history and others from the perspective of the program's impact on their lives. The

Campus Climate Survey
Survey opens Feb. 10, 2020
Marquette University is conducting its second climate survey for students, faculty
and staff. This represents an extension of the commitment we made in 2015 to foster
a campus climate that ensures the ability of all our community members to learn, teach,
work and enjoy an affirming quality of life. Since 2015, considerable momentum has
grown throughout our campus, but there is still much more to do. We remain strongly
committed to addressing campus climate and are repeating our campus-wide survey to
generate a new set of action steps from the observations of our community. Everyone
currently affiliated with Marquette is invited to take a few moments to complete the
survey.

Faculty grants for diverse course development now available
Applications due: Mar. 31, 2020
The Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion supports the development of innovative
courses that explore issues of diversity, equity and inclusion. Summer grants of up
to $1,500 are available to full-time faculty from any discipline to develop new course
or significantly revise existing courses to infuse inclusive pedagogy and diverse
themes. The course must be taught at least once within the three semesters following

Save the Date: Second Annual Symposium on Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice
Date: Apr. 2, 2020

This symposium explores discrimination at the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality,
discusses how we are working to address these issues, and offers a vision for the
future of equity and inclusion at Marquette. The purpose of the university, and especially
the Jesuit university, is to be a convener of difficult conversation and a leader
for social justice action. As such, this forum helps prepare us to have challenging
intellectual discourse and refresh our values as an institution. Save the date - more
