- Drs. Dan Zitomer and Brooke Mayer received a 5-year award from the National Science Foundation for the project, “IUCRC Phase III: Marquette University: Center for Water Equipment and Policy (WEP).” Other collaborating faculty include Drs. Patrick McNamara, Walter McDonald, Tony Parolari, and Kaushik Venkiteshwaran. (Aug. 2021)
- Dr. Qindan Huang received a 1-year award in the amount of $50,000 for a collaborative project with Dr. Hao Wang at Rutgers titled, “Probabilistic Performance Modeling and Optimum Maintenance Planning of Plastic Pipeline with Piezoelectric Based NDE Updating.” This work is supported by the US Department of Transportation. - Drs. Patrick McNamara and Dan Zitomer received $70,037 for a 1-year project titled, “Understanding Microbial Community Dynamics of Activated Sludge to Predict and Mitigate Foaming Events – Phase II.” (Sept. 2021)
- Dr. Brooke Mayer received $624,399 for a 5-year project titled, "Science and Technologies for Phosphorus Sustainability (STEPS) Center." (Oct. 2021)
- Dr. Maggie McNamara received a $11,500 university Summer Faculty Fellowship and a research grant for A Systematic Literature Review of Transportation Access in Chronic Stroke. (Dec. 2021)
- Drs. John Borg and Brooke Mayer are Co-Investigators on a 1-year award from Kohler Company along with Drs. Krassimira Hristova and Chris Marshall from Biological Sciences. The award is $84,707 for the project titled, “Shear Stress Required to Remove Microorganisms from Common Bath Surfaces Using Moving Air.” (Dec. 2021)
- Dr. Brooke Mayer (PI) and Dr. Patrick McNamara (Co-PI) have received a 1-year award in the amount of $75,000 for the project, “Novel Iron-Based Electrocoagulation-Peroxidation Treatment Process for Removal of PFAS.” (Dec. 2021)
- Dr. Walter McDonald has received a 1-year award in the amount of $50,000 for the project, “Remote sensing and machine learning to assess urban watershed best management practices.” (Dec. 2021)
- Dr. Daniel Zitomer (PI) along with Dr. Brooke Mayer (Co-PI), Dr. Anthony Parolari (Co-PI), Dr. Krassi Hristova (Co-PI, Biological Sciences), Dr. Chris Marshall (Co-PI, Biological Sciences), Dr. Patrick McNamara (collaborator), Dr. Walter McDonald (collaborator), and David Strifling (collaborator, Law School) have received a 2-year $3.8M grant award from the Army Corps’ Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) for the project titled, "Novel Technologies to Mitigate Water Contamination for Resilient Infrastructure." - Dr. Andrew Sen has received a 2-year $200,000 award from the National Science Foundation for the project, “ERI: Segmented Braces for Improved Seismic Performance and Repairability of Concentrically Braced Frames." (Jan. 2022)
- Dr. Qindan Huang, in collaboration with Dr. Hao Wang at Rutgers, has received a 3-year award from the US Department of Transportation for the project, “Pipeline Risk Management Using Artificial Intelligence-Enabled Modeling and Decision Making.” The entire federal award is $349,328; the Marquette portion is $139,920.
