The Department of Biological Sciences occupies the Wehr Life Sciences Building, where each faculty member maintains a laboratory suite designed and equipped for their particular area of research. The faculty members have international reputations for excellence and are extramurally funded from a variety of sources including the American Heart Association, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Research Partners

The members of the department enjoy collaborative interactions with public and private institutions in the greater Milwaukee area and across the country. Marquette faculty and graduate students have collaborated in research with investigators at Sinai/Samaritan Medical Center, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Medical College of Wisconsin, the University of Chicago, the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Duke University, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories, and Jackson Laboratory. One research group conducts an ongoing project at Yellowstone National Park in conjunction with investigators from the Water Institute of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
