Young Alumna of the Year Award
Karin Synold Morris, Bus Ad '00
Highland Village, Texas
As vice president of community outreach for the Texas Rangers, Karin helps ensure that the Major League club is providing resources to some of its most important constituents: children and nonprofit organizations.
She started with the Rangers in 2003 and was named executive director of the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation in 2008.
In her role, Karin oversees the club’s charitable giving; foundation programs, including the new Texas Rangers MLB Youth Academy; the club’s outreach in the community; and the team’s youth baseball programs.
Karin is a Marquette legacy many times over. Her grandparents, an aunt and uncle, four cousins, and countless second cousins, all attended Marquette — a place she has many fond memories of.
During her time as an undergraduate, she recalls traveling to Ireland, living in Spain, going to basketball games and attending Delta Sigma Pi events as some of her best and most fun memories. She also says assistant dean Dr. Joe Terrian and Dr. William Hunter were among her favorite and most influential professors.

Childhood dream job: Truthfully, I wanted to be a football coach for Florida State University, a fashion designer or a teacher.
Most influential person: My parents and my husband. I can't pick just one. They each supported me in different ways and pushed me to reach for my dreams. They each inspired and motivated me to create the position that I started with the Rangers and continue to support me today. Beyond that, my kids, as they make each day so incredibly special. They also keep me in check, and all of my family helps me balance the world of baseball and family.
