Brent C. Moberg, Grad '04, Law '04
South Bend, Ind.
As a medical student no longer convinced that he wanted to become a doctor, Brent turned to Marquette to find a new career path. Today, he is director of compliance at the University of Notre Dame.
“Working in college athletics is never dull, and no two days in the Compliance Office are ever quite the same,” he says. “Working closely with coaches and student-athletes to educate them and assist them in achieving their goals is fulfilling. Nothing is more humbling than being presented with a championship ring as a coach’s thank you for the contributions that you have made to the success of his program.”
In addition to his duties at Notre Dame, Brent works on additional consulting projects with Carr Sports Consulting LLC. Before arriving at Notre Dame, he was director of compliance at Northern Illinois University, where he created a compliance internship and hosted several Marquette sports law students who went on to work full time in the field.
Brent is thankful to several members of the Marquette faculty, especially Paul Anderson, professor and associate director of the National Sports Law Institute.
“Conversations with Paul first planted the seed of NCAA compliance as a potential career path, and his advice and support as I attempted to break into the field of intercollegiate athletics was indispensable,” he says.
