College of Nursing Award Recipients
Distinguished Alumna of the Year Award
DOROTHY J. KLOFTA, NURS '59
Milwaukee
Dorothy’s illustrious career included establishing the intensive care unit at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in a spot where veterans could see the sun —“to feel hopeful.” Which is exactly the feeling she inspired in her patients during her 57-year career there.
Distinguished Alumna in Service to Nursing Award
JUDITH GOESSELE RUSSELL, NURS '64
Minocqua, Wis.
In everything she has done since graduation — from serving as a labor and delivery nurse to a corporate nurse to a parish nurse — Judy has remembered one thing: “I am a Marquette nurse, and I am proud of it.”
Young Alumnus of the Year Award
DEREK T. EHRHARDT, NURS '96
Decatur, Ga.
Derek has one short-term plan: help achieve global polio eradication. Every day, as a commander in the United States Public Health Service and nurse epidemiologist for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, he works tirelessly supporting the global effort to achieve this goal.
Friend of the College Award
KATHLEEN MALONE RUEHLOW
Oconomowoc, Wis.
Thanks to Kathy, nursing students have a space where they can study and collaborate on group projects in the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare Center for Clinical Simulation: the Kathleen M. Ruehlow Student Lounge.
