johnsonAlexander D. Johnson, Comm '12, has been hired as a dancer by Tulum Resort in Yucatan, Mexico. He will perform choreographed routines for tourists, participate in outdoor activities and serve as the face of the resort by promoting customer service and a friendly environment.


milliganCeara Milligan, Bus Ad '12, has been hired as a client services associate by BrightTag, an interactive marketing technology company in Chicago. As a student at Marquette, she also served as a member of Senior Challenge and Phonathon supervisor.


osborneColleen Osborne, Bus Ad '12, has been hired by the Corporate and Institutional Banking division of BNP Paribas, New York, which provides financing, advisory and capital markets services to companies, financial institutions, investment funds and hedge funds worldwide.

MU Engineering students collaborate to invent device to help girl feed herself

Four Marquette Engineering students and two Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design students worked together to design a device to aid 11-year-old Kailyn Pieper to feed herself without the use of her arms. "Thanks from the bottom of my heart for helping improve the quality of my life one spoonful at a time," Pieper said. Read the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel story and see a video of the project.

Director named for Gender and Sexuality Resource Center
The Office of the Provost has selected Dr. Susannah Bartlow to serve as director of the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center. She previously led the Women's Center at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Penn., and was a contributing faculty member in the Women's and Gender Studies department. The center will open in fall 2012 under the direction of the Office of the Provost.

Marquette alumnus to give $1 million for dental school expansion
School of Dentistry alumnus Dr. Rick Kushner will donate $1 million to the Building for the Future campaign, which will support the school’s 40,000 square foot expansion. The gift will help create a fifth clinic within the school, to be named the Comfort Dental clinic, which will allow the patient care practice at the school to increase by an additional 24 stations. Dr. Kushner, who graduated from the School of Dentistry in 1977, founded Comfort Dental.

Real estate chair speaks on development

New apartment construction remains the strongest product segment within the commercial development industry, said Mark Eppli, Bell chair of real estate at Marquette. The number of new apartments being built nationwide is approximately 200,000 annually, Eppli said during a panel discussion. Story appeared in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
