What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a way to get materials that are not already available at Marquette. The service is available to all students, faculty and staff. There is no cost to the requestor, though the library usually does incur costs.

How do I create an ILL account?

Use your Marqnet credentials to login to the Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) system – the login is located at the top of this guide (screen). The ILLiad system will recognize you as a first time user and prompt you to fill out the required User Information fields; name, contact information, etc.

How do I submit ILL requests for a faculty?

An Interlibrary Loan Shared Account form must be filled out and signed by the faculty to allow you to submit requests on their behalf. Shared Account Authorization

I am experiencing problems logging into MY ILL Account (Illiad). What's wrong?

If you forward your eMarq email to another email address AND are experiencing problems logging into your Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) account, please log into eMarq (https://portal.office.com) to verify that your credentials are still valid.

NOTE: Interlibrary Loan cannot guarantee the receipt or timeliness of emails from the ILLiad system that have been routed through emarq to another email address.

Interlibrary Loan and ebooks

Access to ebooks cannot be obtained through Interlibrary Loan.

Interlibrary Loan CANNOT obtain a physical loan of ebooks accessible through MARQCAT.

If you are experiencing an access issue to a MARQCAT ebook you should request assistance through the ASK A LIBRARIAN service.

How do I request a renewal?

A renewal can be requested for loans:

  • That do not have a renewal prohibition (NO RENEWALS would be listed on the Interlibrary Loan label).
  • Which have not previously received a renewal.
  • That are not OVERDUE.

NOTE: The ILLiad system DOES NOT allow a renewal request more than seven days before the due date.

To request a renewal:

  1. Login to your Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) account.
  2. From the ILLiad main menu, in the category labeled “View“ select "Checked Out Items".
  3. In the Transaction Number field select the NUMBER that corresponds to the item that you wish to renew.
  4. Select “Request Renewal” option above (top lef) of the Transaction Information.
  5. A status message will appear. REQUEST RECEIVED. You may keep this loan past its present due date while we await a response from the lending library.

NOTE: You will receive an email confirmation when the Interlibrary Loan Office has forwarded the renewal request to the lending institution for consideration.

How do I view items delivered electronically?

  1. Login to your Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) account.
  2. From the ILLiad main menu, in the category labeled "View" select "Electronically Received Articles".
  3. Select "View" that corresponds to the Transaction number and Title you wish to access.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • AFTER 30 DAYS articles are PURGED from the webserver.
  • PRINT or SAVE a copy of the article before the 30 days has elapsed.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader is required in order to view articles delivered electronically. Download Adobe Acrobat Reader at: http://get.adobe.com/reader/.

How do I reactivate an electronic document after I have selected "Request Finished"?
