He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Marquette University in 1986, attended the Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, IL 1986-90, served his Internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI 1990-91 and completed a residency in emergency medicine at Milwaukee County Hospital in 1994.
Upon completion of his residency, he joined the medical staff at St. Michael Hospital in Milwaukee as an attending emergency physician. He served on the Wisconsin ACEP Board of Directors from 1996-98. Dr. Coogan also served as Assistant Director of Emergency Medicine at St. Francis Hospital in Milwaukee from 1999 to 2006. He is currently serving as emergency medical director of Aurora Sinai Hospital in Milwaukee.
