Nicknames:

1). Hilltoppers: 1916 – 1954.

2). INFORMAL NICKNAME: Golden Avalanche: This was an informal name given to Marquette's Football team by a New York writer in 1923 "following successive Saturday victories over Boston College and the University of Detroit." (Jablonsky, Milwaukee's Jesuit University, page 152).  The football team's uniforms were gold, hence the name.  The nickname Golden Avalanche generally fell out of favor after about 1937.  

3). INFORMAL NICKNAME: Blue and Gold: not an official nickname, informal, like the "Golden Avalanche" nickname.  For example, in this Feb. 19, 1927 article "Hilltop Push Irish Cagers" the men's basketball team is called the Hilltoppers but also called Blue and Gold: http://cdm16280.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/ref/collection/p16280coll3/id/4234 .

4). Warriors: 1954-1994.

5). Golden Eagles: 1994 – May 2005.

6). Gold: May 4, 2005- May 11, 2005.

7). Golden Eagles: June 29, 2005 – current.

Mascots or Symbols:

1). Chief White Buck: 1954 (may have been other years in the 1950s).

2). Willie Wampum: February 1961-1971.

3). First Warrior: 1980-1987. The First Warrior was a Symbol and not a mascot. 

4). Bleuteaux / Blueteaux (spelled both ways across various sources): November 1984 -1990/1991 (official end is unclear, different dates listed in different sources).

5). Golden Eagles: May 2, 1994 - May 4, 2005; June 29, 2005 – current. 

Logos:

1). Whoosh: October 29, 1954 – date unknown (most likely 1970s, perhaps in 1971).

2). First Warrior silhouette: 1985 – 1994.

3). Golden Eagle: 1994 – current.
