History: The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Rapid City, Pennington County, South Dakota, has been a predominantly non-Native American parish, which holds the sacramental records of its predecessor, Immaculate Conception Chapel/ Cathedral. Rapid City diocesan priests at Immaculate Conception had attended to students at the Rapid City Government Indian School (Brulé, Hunkpapa, Oglala, Sans Arc Lakota), Rapid City, ca. 1898-1916 (transferred to Our Lady of the Black Hills Church, Piedmont).
