History: Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Nightmute, Bethel Census Area, Alaska, has been a small and predominantly Native American (Yupik Eskimo) parish on Nelson Island of the Bering Sea coast and in the Diocese of Fairbanks (Archives: Fairbanks, Alaska).

1929-1931

Catechist Simeon Sipary (Yupik Eskimo) at Little Flower, Hooper’s Bay, evangelized Nigtmuit (Yupik Eskimo), Nelson Island

1931-1934

Jesuits (Oregon Province) (Archives: St. Louis, Missouri) at Little Flower, Hooper’s Bay, established and attended to Nigtmuit Chapel (Yupik Eskimo)

1934-1961

Jesuits at St. Joseph’s, Tununak, Jesuits attended to Nightmute/ Nigtmuit Chapel

1959-1966

Jesuits at St. Catherine’s, Cheforniak, established and attended to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Mission (Yupik Eskimo)
