History: Founded in Italy by St. Gaspar de Bufalo, 1815, missionaries of the Society of the Precious Blood (a.k.a. Missionaries of the Precious Blood) have self-identified with the post-nominal initials, “C.Pp.S.” and made their first U.S. foundation in Cincinnati, 1844. They administered the following Native American missions and a school:
1888-1896 (no longer Native) | St. Joseph College/ Normal School (e.g. Ojibwa. Potawatomi), Rensselaer, Indiana |
1925-1931 (closed) | Sacred Heart Mission (Cherokee), Claremore, Oklahoma; attended from St. Catherine Church, Nowata, Oklahoma |
