This series focuses on McCarthy’s time in office as a U.S. Senator during the years 1947 through 1957. These files include general correspondence, statements and letters, draft notes and reference material. Important themes regarding communism, allegations, McCarthyism and practices performed by McCarthy and his administration are referenced. Similarly, there is reference to a few historic events and names attributed to McCarthy’s investigation, including alleged communist, Owen Lattimore and letters to President Harry S. Truman.
