Ian Gonzalez, Bus Ad '02, serves as the vice president for finance. In this role, he leads the University’s financial units in support of executing the strategic and master plans, promoting innovation, and fulfilling the mission of the university while collaborating with the Marquette community toward financial goals and challenges. The functions reporting to the vice president for finance are budget, bursar, comptroller, financial research and analysis, purchasing, risk management and treasury services.
Gonzalez was elected corporate assistant treasurer by the Marquette University Board of Trustees in 2019.
Prior to joining Marquette University in November 2019, Gonzalez held several progressive financial leadership positions within Briggs & Stratton, most recently serving as the corporate controller. In that capacity, he was a member of the manufacturing company’s leadership team and a key finance partner in developing and executing the company’s long-range strategic plan, while leading the finance functions for the company’s Corporate and Global Engine business units. Prior to joining Briggs & Stratton, Gonzalez held the position of senior manager within the audit practice of the public accounting firm KPMG.
A Marquette alumnus, Gonzalez earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the College of Business Administration in 2002. He is a licensed certified public accountant and holds the chartered financial analyst designation. Gonzalez participates in several professional and community organizations and has previously served on the Marquette University Business Administration Alumni Association board.
