Micky Minhas, Eng ’89, was elected to the Marquette University Board of Trustees in 2020.
Micky is senior vice president at the Marconi Group, an intellectual property licensing firm based in Dallas, Texas. As part of the Marconi management team, Micky focuses on intellectual property licensing and venture capital funding in telecommunication, video distribution and cloud related technologies.
Before joining Marconi in March 2020, Micky was chief patent counsel for Microsoft, managing the Microsoft patent group since 2012. Primarily responsible for outbound and inbound intellectual property licensing, intellectual property strategy, acquisitions and divestitures, he also managed patent preparation and prosecution of patents and was responsible for Microsoft’s conflicts, indemnification and prelitigation practice. Prior to Microsoft, Micky served as vice president of intellectual property strategy at Qualcomm in San Diego, California.
Micky holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Marquette, a master’s degree in electrical engineering from George Washington University, and juris doctor and master of law degrees
from Franklin Pierce - University of New Hampshire, where he continues to work as the Director of the Franklin Pierce Center for Intellectual Property.
Micky served on the Alumni Association Board of Directors from 2016 to 2020, serving as president for 2019 to 2020. He met his wife, Jennifer, Nurs ‘89, while attending Marquette. They have two children, the youngest of whom currently attends Marquette’s College of Health Sciences.
He is a member of the Marquette University Archbishop Henni Founders Society.
