Microsoft Ending Basic Authentication

Microsoft will end support for Basic Authentication on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022. Basic Authentication is an older, less secure method of accessing your email and calendar. Going forward, Microsoft will only support Modern Authentication.

IMPORTANT: This security improvement means some email/calendar clients — especially older ones — may fail to connect to Office 365 as of Oct. 1, 2022. See fixes.

IT Services recommends email/calendar clients that use Modern Authentication, such as:

How do I fix my email/calendar if I can't connect as of Oct. 1?

Use Outlook on the Web as an immediate workaround. Then select your device type to fix.
