Dean's Office
Dr. Angela Frey became the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Health Sciences in August 2023. In her role in the Dean's Office, Dr. Frey designs programming to build professional identity among traditionally underrepresented students in the science, technology, engineering, math and medicine (STEMM) fields. Dr. Frey also is on the leadership team for U-RISE.
Prior to her position at Marquette she was the executive director for the Center for Academic Excellence and professor of biology at Alverno College, a women’s college and HSI. At Alverno, Dr. Frey spearheaded development of AIMS, Alverno Initiatives in Mathematics and Science, a set of projects engaging students in cross-disciplinary activities outside the classroom to encourage a community of learners and build STEMM identity particularly for students traditionally underrepresented in STEM. As part of AIMS, Dr. Frey designed and managed several NSF-funded projects including serving as PI of NSF S-STEM and NSF IUSE HSI projects and as the campus representative and small grant holder to the Wisconsin Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (WiscLSAMP). She also directed the growth of STEM summer research on Alverno’s campus and was a member of the leadership team of USDA HSI Education grant. Dr. Frey holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in cellular biology.
